Corcoran joins Hird at Bombers
Danny Corcoran will return to his Essendon AFL roots after the Melbourne Rebels released him from his position of general manager of rugby operations with the Super 15 outfit.
Corcoran has taken on the new title of people and development manager in the club's revamped football department, which will be headed by new coach and Corcoran's long-time friend James Hird.
Corcoran worked in the football departments at Essendon (1990-95) and Melbourne (1998-2003) before becoming the chief executive of Athletics Australia in 2004.
He left that role earlier this year to take up the Rebels position.
"I am delighted to welcome Danny back as part of a new-look football department under the leadership of Paul Hamilton and James Hird," Essendon chief executive Ian Robson said.
"Danny brings with him a wide range of experience from both a local and international sporting stage.
"I am certain he will play a significant role in contributing to the success that all of us are committed to delivering to our supporter base."
The Rebels said Corcoran left with their blessing.
