Magpies in good shape: Malthouse
Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse says the Magpies are physically and mentally prepared for Saturday's AFL grand final replay against St Kilda at the MCG.
Collingwood completed their final training session without apparent incident at Gosch's Paddock on Friday.
Only a few thousand fans watched the open session, much smaller than the crowd for the corresponding session last Friday.
Small forward Leon Davis was among those training, despite being dropped and not even listed as an emergency this week, after a quiet game in last Saturday's drawn grand final.
Malthouse said Davis had taken the news of his axing in good grace.
"Very good, he understands. There's been very few players, if any, that haven't accepted the judgment of the match committee," Malthouse told reporters after training.
"You saw the way he trained, he trained upbeat. The player group will take their bags tomorrow and he'll be one of them."
But Malthouse said he was comfortable with the 25 selected, including the three emergencies, and there was little chance of bringing in a player such as Davis, from outside that group.
"Who knows? It probably won't happen, but stranger things have happened," he said.
"I'm not trying to invent something. Right now we are very satisfied with the 25 we've picked."
Malthouse said the week had been quite different to the lead-up to last Saturday's initial grand final, mainly because there were fewer functions players needed to attend.
He said he also welcomed the attention falling elsewhere, given announcements such as James Hird's appointment as Essendon coach and Geelong star Gary Ablett signing with Gold Coast.
Malthouse expected the more low-key build-up to benefit his players, particularly some of the more high-profile players, who had been required for numerous functions last week.
