Cowboys postpone meeting with Thurston
North Queensland have postponed a scheduled meeting with under fire captain Johnathan Thurston following the NRL star's arrest last week.
Thurston had been scheduled to meet with the Cowboys on Thursday, but club chairman Laurence Lancini said the club had given the Australian and Queensland halfback more time to prepare his response.
The playmaker, who is currently recovering from an ankle injury, was charged with public nuisance after he was kicked out of Brisbane's Treasury for harassing patrons with his crutch.
"As we said at the time, the board and management of the club are disappointed with Johnathan's actions and he will be required to explain the circumstances surrounding the incident," Lancini said in a statement.
"The Cowboys maintain strict player behaviour protocols and are committed to ensuring that players understand their commitment to members, sponsors and the community.
"We will set a new date for the board meeting to discuss Johnathan's actions as soon as possible."
Thurston is due to appear in court on October 6.
