England's WC team lands in South Africa
Towering striker Peter Crouch led England's World Cup squad off its plane at the O.R. Tambo airport as one of the pre-tournament favourites arrived in South Africa.
Crouch, and midfielders Gareth Barry, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard were the first players to emerge in the bright early morning sunshine in Johannesburg on Thursday after their flight from London landed 30 minutes early.
Star forward Wayne Rooney was among the last to appear for the brief walk to the temporary arrival facility.
Coach Fabio Capello spoke briefly to reporters, saying "I hope the World Cup will be a big success for South Africa and also for my team. Thank you, it's good to be here."
Capello and the players wore light grey suits.
