Toeava back from injury for Blues
All Black Isaia Toeava will return from injury to Super 14 rugby for the Blues against the Brumbies in Auckland on Friday night.
However, in the only change to the Blues' starting 15, Toeava was named not at centre, where he has been operating this season, but at fullback.
He replaces Paul Williams, who drops to the reserves bench.
Coach Pat Lam said Toeava was a test match fullback and there was a sense that could be his position.
"It's a good opportunity to come back and have a good crack at fullback," he said.
The Blues are coming off their bye, and Lam said the week had been good for giving injured players time to recuperate.
It had also been a chance to take stock, after a 2-2 win-loss record from the opening stretch of the season.
Skipper Keven Mealamu will play his 100th game for the Blues when he runs on at Eden Park and Lam said the hooker's contribution to the side was "huge".
"The reason he is captain is he leads by example," Lam said.
"He is the ultimate pro. He is what you want all your players to be - honest professional, hardworking. It's a big day for him, for our team and the franchise."
