Muller insists Sharks are united
Sharks stalwart Johann Muller insists there is no disunity within his struggling side and says some soul-searching has the Super 14 outfit fired up for Saturday's clash with the NSW Waratahs.
The star-studded Durban side have been the under-achievers of the competition this season, losing all of their first three matches.
Following the home defeats to the Chiefs and Cheetahs and the away loss to the Crusaders, whispers have emanated from South Africa about team disunity and dissatisfaction with coach John Plumtree.
Springboks lock Muller said there had been plenty of hard talking at a team meeting this week as the Sharks sought to kick start their stuttering season in Sydney on Saturday.
He emphatically denied there was any internal dissension in the Sharks ranks, but understood why there had been rumours of that ilk.
"I think that's always going to be the case when a team doesn't do well and you don't perform as well as you should," Muller told AAP.
"I think people always want to blame something on somebody for not performing.
"I can promise you one thing, there's absolutely nothing wrong with us.
"There's not one person in this group that is unhappy, everybody is really looking forward to Saturday.
"We are great mates and we've got a great coaching staff."
Muller said a combination of factors had contributed to the Sharks' poor start to the season and it wasn't down to a particular part of the team performing poorly.
"We haven't played to our potential, not at all," Muller said.
"We've got a great pack of forwards, but we haven't played like one yet and for our backline, it's always difficult to play when you get the ball on the back foot.
"We can't just blame one thing that has put us on the back foot.
"I think it's a combination of things and if we want to do well in this competition, we want to kick start this weekend.
"We need to improve in every single facet of our game and that's what all the talk has been about."
Muller said his team expected to face an "immense challenge" from an NSW team which won just one of their first three games on the road.
"They are a really good side, they've proven that over four or five years," Muller said.
"I thought they were unlucky in Pretoria (against the Bulls) last week.
"I thought they started very well and that first 25 minutes, the first half, they were absolutely brilliant and it took a quality side like the Bulls are to come back.
"I think it's going to be a great challenge for us."
