Qld's Horwill out for nine months
Queensland Reds and Wallaby lock James Horwill will be out of rugby for nine months after suffering a serious knee injury in their 41-20 Super 14 win over the Crusaders.
Scans revealed Horwill will require surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation program, after he was carried from the field midway through the second half.
The injury news put a severe dampener on the celebration of what was one of the Reds' best team performances in recent seasons.
Queensland five-eighth Quade Cooper scored 31 points - a new Reds individual Super rugby record.
