Saints prepared for finals: Riewoldt
St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt says the AFL premiership favourites could not be better prepared for Friday night's preliminary final against the Western Bulldogs.
The minor premiers have had almost a fortnight's break leading into the game after claiming the minor premiership, then downing Collingwood in their first final.
"We feel as well prepared as we ever have been, I think we are as well prepared as we can be," Riewoldt said ahead of their MCG training session on Wednesday.
"We've got a fit and healthy list and we've studied our opposition really thoroughly and we're looking forward to it now."
While Riewoldt has experienced knee soreness in recent matches, he said there was no danger of it keeping him from producing his best football.
Similarly, vice-captain Lenny Hayes, who had his left elbow strapped, said a minor injury was not hampering him.
Riewoldt said while the Saints have been the dominant side all season, and beaten the Bulldogs in both meetings, it meant nothing.
"Everything that has gone in the past is exactly that and counts for nothing on Friday night," he said.
"We'll go out and we'll train and prepare as we have all year and put in the effort that we have all year and hopefully that's enough to get us over the line."
He also said the players were not haunted by three preliminary final defeats in the past five years.
"To be honest I haven't really thought about it at all," he said.
"All I've been trying to concentrate on is my preparation and the team's preparation and making sure we're as ready to go as we can be.
"... The past for us holds no bearing on the future."
