No hard feelings from Laffranchi
Gold Coast forward Anthony Laffranchi has put aside his disappointment at missing out on State of Origin selection to wish NSW a winning series.
Blues selectors opted to hand second year coach Craig Bellamy eight rookies for Origin one in Melbourne next week in a desperate bid to halt Queensland's quest for a record fourth straight series.
It means NSW boast a potentially devastating backline and a pack they hope can physically intimidate the Maroons, but no spot for the Test backrower.
Laffranchi handled his axing with class on Tuesday, accepting NSW selectors wanted to go in a different direction for the opening game of the series.
But that doesn't mean he's given up hope of forcing his way back into the Blues pack for the second game if the opportunity comes along.
"Naturally I'm disappointed," said Laffranchi, whose NRL clubmate Luke Bailey did make Tuesday's flight to Melbourne with the Blues.
"They've picked a great team and all players are in form and I wish the boys well.
"You never expect it (to be dropped) but it was down to the selection process and the selectors went with the team they wanted.
"I just have to worry about my club form and play well for the Titans and if an opportunity comes along hopefully press my claims there."
Laffranchi was delighted for Bailey who resurrected his Test career last month.
"He deserved his position and I know he's going to lead the pack around the park really well," said Laffranchi.
