Swans young gun out for up to two months
Young Sydney Swans forward Patrick Veszpremi is expected to miss the first two months of the AFL season due to a finger injury.
Veszpremi ruptured his finger flexor tendon in the Swans' pre-season match against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium last Friday night and will undergo surgery next week.
"It is obviously unfortunate timing for Pat to have sustained this injury but we want him to get in and get the surgery done," Swans coaching co-ordinator John Longmire said in a statement.
"Pat showed some promise last year at senior level and while this is a minor set back for him, he will be able to continue to work on his pre-season fitness base quite quickly after the surgery and come back into main training group ready to go."
The promising Veszpremi made his debut against the Western Bulldogs in round 18 last season.
The Swans open their season against St Kilda next Saturday.
