We'll win NRL title the hard way: Storm
Melbourne backrower Ryan Hoffman remains a chance to play in his side's NRL sudden-death final against Brisbane on Saturday night after scans showed no structural damage to his troublesome ankle.
Hoffman re-injured his ankle in the Storm's shock 18-15 qualifying final loss to New Zealand in only his second match back following a similar injury.
But the Storm said the Test backrower had not been ruled out of the Broncos match with the ankle strain.
"Ryan's injury is still at the lower end of ankle strains, however he is experiencing slight pain and swelling," Storm high performance unit manager Mary Toomey said.
"We'll do everything we can to get him right for Brisbane.
"If he isn't ready for this Saturday he's likely to be fit for the preliminary final should we make it."
The news was better for Melbourne prop Jeff Lima, who has shaken off a knee injury and will be fit to play this weekend.
Lima took part in the Storm's recovery session in Melbourne on Monday.
Skipper Cameron Smith said his team's defeat hadn't dented the Storm's confidence they could win back-to-back premierships.
Melbourne have now missed out on both home advantage and a week off ahead of the preliminary final, instead facing a sudden-death final against Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium.
"It was important we didn't come here today kicking stones because we do have another opportunity," Smith said at the team's recovery session.
"It's just one game harder. It's just one extra game we have to play.
"It's a bit harder than we wanted. But we've played big games up in Brisbane, we've played big games up in Sydney and managed to come away with wins.
"I don't think it's that tough an ask with the team that we've got. We still think we can do it."
