Prince hopes to return to NRL in 2008
Queensland State of Origin halfback Scott Prince is still hopeful of playing this season despite being told he could miss up to 12 weeks with a broken arm.
The Gold Coast Titans co-captain suffered the injury in Queensland's series-winning 16-10 victory over NSW in Sydney on Wednesday night.
Prince is hopeful of undergoing surgery on Thursday in which a rod or plate is expected to be inserted following x-rays on Thursday afternoon.
"They are talking sort of eight to 10, maybe 12 weeks," Prince told reporters at Brisbane airport.
Prince was keeping his fingers crossed that he would still be able to feature in the 2008 NRL season.
"It is just a matter of how the x-rays go this afternoon," he said.
However, Prince confirmed that he had suffered a serious break.
"There was a bit of movement in there when I made the tackle and when I pushed up off the ground I could feel it cracking and grinding away so I knew there was something serious done there," he said.
Prince will be sweating on a return sooner rather than later - finals hopefuls the Titans have only 10 regular season games left.
Prince's injury is just what the Titans don't need after losing their other co-captain, prop Luke Bailey, to a serious ankle injury.
Bailey is expected to miss the rest of the season after having a pin inserted in his ankle last week.
He faces at least a 12-week recovery after being diagnosed with a syndesmosis injury - where the tibia and fibula separate in the ankle joint.
