Kimmorley, Carney dodge serious injury
Cronulla and Canberra have both received good news, with key playmakers Brett Kimmorley and Todd Carney cleared of serious injuries.
Sharks skipper Kimmorley had x-rays on his left eye socket and cheekbone after being flattened by Parramatta's Fuifui Moimoi late in Sunday's 16-14 win at Toyota Park.
He was cleared of any fracture and a club statement said he was likely to be available for next Monday's clash with in-form Canberra.
Raiders linchpin Carney will be another beneficiary of a long week after club medical staff decided he did not require a scan on his injured ankle.
He will sit out the side's early-week training sessions and the club is confident he will be right for the Canberra Stadium match.
The Bulldogs will have up to 11 first-graders on the sidelines when they have a second crack at revenge on Willie Mason for walking out on the club on Friday.
Forward Nick Kouparitsas had an MRI scan on an ankle with the results likely to be known on Tuesday, while prop Brad Morrin will see a specialist about a finger problem.
Five-eighth Daniel Holdsworth is out for 4-6 weeks with a thigh injury and prop Jarrad Hickey will have scans on a hand.
At least Mason's arch-rival Sonny Bill Williams will return from a knee problem to aim some shoulder charges in the Roosters forward's direction.
Penrith received mixed news on their own injury crisis with fullback Rhys Wesser to miss four weeks with a torn abdominal muscle, utility Jarrod Sammut battling a corked hip and winger Luke Rooney undergoing scans on a shoulder.
On the positive side, centre Michael Jennings (knee), prop Tony Puletua (ribs) and winger Michael Gordon (cheek) are all chances of returning against Brisbane on Friday.
Parramatta fullback Luke Burt (shoulder, testicles) will be right to play Melbourne on Sunday, but centre Joel Reddy will have an x-ray for a possible broken thumb.
Wests Tigers winger Shannon McDonnell will miss 4-6 weeks with a grade two hamstring tear but forward Todd Payten could make a return from his hamstring injury against the New Zealand Warriors on Sunday.
North Queensland officials are confident former Queensland forward Jacob Lillyman's shoulder injury will not be season-ending, with the second-rower still awaiting an MRI scan.
