NRL premiers Melbourne took another step towards retaining their star-studded roster with New Zealand Test prop Adam Blair re-signing until the end of 2011.

Blair agreed to a new three-year deal and joins fellow representative forwards Dallas Johnson and Jeff Lima, along with coach Craig Bellamy, who have committed their futures to the Storm in recent weeks.

Several clubs had made approaches to Blair but the agile prop decided his football was best served remaining at the Storm.

"Blair's re-signing is yet another example of a quality player who is willing to stay in Melbourne for less money," said Storm football manager Frank Ponissi.

"The reason for this is the culture created by Craig Bellamy and his coaching staff here.

"Blair could have signed with a rival NRL club for more money, but he believes his best chance of continued success is with the Melbourne Storm."

Blair joined Melbourne in 2003 and played in the club's 2006 losing grand final before making his Test debut for New Zealand in the Tri Nations series.

However, a serious foot injury in that Tri Nations final loss to Australia derailed his 2007 season, only making eight appearances in first-grade and missing out on the premiership win.

But Blair has returned to his best in 2008 with eight NRL appearances and playing for New Zealand in the Centenary Test.

The 22-year-old said he remained loyal the club so they could enjoy continued success as a team.

"The club have always supported me and I believe we've got a chance to have continued success if the playing group sticks together as much as possible," said Blair.
