Plumtree named Sharks coach
New Zealander John Plumtree has been named coach of South African Super 14 rugby franchise the Sharks.
Current assistant coach Plumtree is promoted following the appointment of Sharks coach Dick Muir to assistant coach for the Springboks.
He will take up the role on June 1, following the completion of the Super 14 this month.
Plumtree left his job as coach of Wellington to join the Sharks last year as assistant, helping guide them to the semi-finals.
He was coach of their Currie Cup team who reached the semi-finals last year despite missing their Springboks players.
Plumtree has several years of experience as coach at Swansea in Wales and Wellington.
