Ronaldo fires United six points clear
Cristiano Ronaldo's hot streak continued when he scored two more goals to give Premier League leaders Manchester United a 3-2 victory over Reading at Old Trafford.
On a day of torrential rain across the country, the stormclouds gathered over Stamford Bridge where champions Chelsea were held 2-2 by west London neighbours Fulham, a result that extended United's lead to six points.
Ronaldo took his league tally to 12 after Reading, playing at Old Trafford for the first time in 50 years, had wiped out Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's opener. Leroy Lita's late goal made it a nervous finale for the home crowd.
Bolton Wanderers moved up to third after a 3-2 home win against high-flying Portsmouth, while Liverpool ended Tottenham Hotspur's 12-game winning sequence at White Hart Lane with a 1-0 victory that moved them back into the top four.
Bottom club Watford's home match against Wigan Athletic was abandoned because of a waterlogged pitch with the score at 1-1.
Arsenal can reclaim third spot when they play at Sheffield United.
