Volunteers drop out of Melbourne's Games
More than 1,200 Commonwealth Games volunteers have quit in the past 10 weeks citing unreasonably long hours.
The disgruntled volunteers claim they were expected to work 60-hour weeks for very little reward.
But the Games' chief executive, John Harnden, said he was confident the event would start in Melbourne on March 15 with a full complement of volunteers, Fairfax newspapers have reported.
Mr Harden said the dropout rate, from 15,000 volunteers, was better than that of the Sydney Olympics' 30 per cent rate.
