Bruce brought crashing to earth

The golden run of Melbourne's Cameron Bruce ended on Sunday with a badly injured shoulder suffered when dumped in the first minute of the Demons' AFL loss to St Kilda at Telstra Dome.

The star onballer could miss up to six games if he requires surgery on his injured A/C joint, but it is understood the injury is more of a dislocation than a break, which could mean Bruce only misses games against Sydney and Fremantle.

Bruce went straight into the rooms after he was tackled by St Kilda's Brent Guerra, later returning to the bench with his right arm in a sling.

The injury was a cruel blow for the warm Brownlow Medal chance who had best-afield efforts in Melbourne's opening three wins of the season.

Coach Neale Daniher said the injury was "pretty severe", but the Demons would await the results of scans on Monday.

Adding to a bad day, centre half-forward Brad Miller was reported for rough conduct against Saint Andrew Thompson and will miss at least one game if found guilty as he accepted a severe reprimand for a similar report in round three.

Having accrued 94.75 points from that charge from an incident against Geelong's Brad Ottens, Miller will almost certainly be suspended for at least one game if found guilty.

Sydney's Paul Williams was also a victim of a heavy tackle, breaking his right collarbone when driven into the ground by Adelaide's Graham Johncock in the second quarter at the SCG.

The injury was similar to that which befell St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt in the season opener at the Gabba and could sideline the star Swan for up to six games.

Williams is likely to undergo surgery this week and coach Paul Roos said his absence was a major blow.
