Jones and Day have better day rowing
Olympians Craig Jones and Jason Day went some way towards making up for their poor single sculls performances with strong efforts in the double sculls at the Australian Rowing Championships.
Jones combined with Henry Gundry to cruise home in the double sculls repechages at the Sydney International Regatta Centre in Penrith, with Day and Nick Baxter getting home in the next race by just 0.35 of a second.
Jones, Australia's representative in the single sculls in Athens last year, finished a disappointing sixth in the single sculls trial, behind Victoria's David Crawshay.
In the women's double sculls repechage, Rebekah Tunevitsch and Kate Hornsey recorded a 10-second win over Birte Kraus and Rebecca Chisolm.
