Ierodiaconou in red hot form
Australia's number two ranked aerial skier, Lydia Ierodiaconou, is in red hot form heading into the weekend's opening of the World Cup season.
The 22-year-old completed a sparkling training session at Mt Buller's Chamois jump site, landing all but one of her triple twisting double somersaults.
Olympic Winter Institute Director Geoff Lipshut rated one of Ierodiaconou's jumps as the best he has ever seen.
"To this stage Lydia is a long way ahead of all the other women, but a lot can happen on the day," Lipshut said.
"She is performing both of her jumps as well as she ever has, and after being number two for the past two years, she is ready to take the step up."
Ierodiaconou's team-mates Liz Gardner and Lainie Cole also trained strongly.
Jacqui Cooper, competing for the first time since her accident prior to the Salt Lake 2002 Olympics, cut her session short after a crunching back slap.
Forty aerialists from 11 countries are taking part in the opening rounds of the 2004/05 FIS Freestyle World Cup, with events on both Saturday and Sunday.
Defending champion Alisia Camplin is resting this weekend.
