Thorne promises no repeat of 1999
All Blacks captain Reuben Thorne has promised there will be no repeat of New Zealand's limp effort in the 1999 Rugby World Cup third place play-off when they take on France on Thursday night.
Four years ago an unmotivated New Zealand met South Africa and was beaten 22-18 in a dire spectacle.
Thorne says there is a different attitude and this time the team wants to finish the tournament on a good note.
France has shown its distaste for the fixture, naming a side with 13 changes from the team that was beaten 24-7 by England in their semi-final.
The All Blacks have made only one change, and that due to injury, giving the team well beaten by Australia a chance to atone for its lacklustre display.
