Cats will enjoy Magpie hunt: Podsiadly
Geelong forward James Podsiadly says the Cats will enjoy being the hunters rather than the hunted when they take on reigning AFL premiers Collingwood.
The Magpies ended the Cats' era of dominance with a big win against Geelong in last year's finals.
Podsiadly said while the players' approach would not change from any other week ahead of this Friday night's MCG blockbuster, they will relish the chance to take on the AFL's other unbeaten side.
"At the end of the day it is only for four points, but we definitely are no longer the hunted any more, we're hunting Collingwood," the key forward said.
"Full credit to them to be honest, to where they've got, we're after them and we'll see what happens.
"It's really good for the AFL to have two undefeated teams going into a Friday night in round eight.
"But the way Collingwood played their first six or seven games has been fantastic, so we've got to try to rise to their level and hold onto them as long as we can and see what happens."
He said one area the Cats had improved from when they last met the Magpies was fitness.
"We're a lot fitter, which is what Collingwood are really good at, their fitness levels are some of the best in the AFL," he said.
Podsiadly tuned up for the bumper clash with his best performance so far this season in Geelong's 66-point win over North Melbourne at Skilled Stadium on Saturday.
He regularly crashed into packs at pace to help set up goals for the side's crumbing forwards, as well as taking 10 marks and kicking 3.4 himself.
"I suppose the way the AFL is played now, there's a lot more contests, a lot more packs, so as a key forward all you've got to do is get to as many as you can and some of them will stick, some of them don't," he said.
