Storm awaiting audit report
Melbourne are expected learn the extent of their salary cap rorting when the NRL club's owners deliver the results of their independent audit on Wednesday.
With speculation mounting as to just how many players the Storm will have to shed in order to get under the cap in 2011, owners News Limited said the magnitude of the breaches would be revealed this week.
News Limited instigated an audit of the club's books after the Storm were found to have systematically breached the salary cap over the last five seasons.
The NRL said Melbourne would be barred from earning competition points while ever the club was over the cap.
The report compiled by forensic auditors Deloitte was delivered to News Limited last week, with the media giant's lawyers currently working through the details.
It was initially thought those results would be made public on Tuesday, but News Limited's head of corporate affairs Greg Baxter admitted some issues were still being worked through.
"It's just checking everything, it's being gone through by our own people and by the lawyers," Baxter said.
"That just takes a long time."
It is not yet clear whether the audit will reveal the process undertaken in the forensic audit, with reports no Storm players had been interviewed during the investigation.
The Storm aren't the only ones anxiously awaiting the report, with their NRL rivals also waiting to see which players could be available in the event of a fire sale.
