Samuel unlikely to face Mexico
Argentina defender Walter Samuel is almost certain to miss the round of 16 match against Mexico at the World Cup on Sunday because of a right thigh injury.
Coach Diego Maradona said the Inter Milan center back took part in a training session on Friday and initially looked good, but he doesn't want to take any risks with the player. Samuel went off injured in the 4-1 win over South Korea on June 17.
"He felt good at the start, but then we had our doubts," Maradona said. "If I have any doubts, I will always put in the player who is in best condition."
Nicolas Burdisso, who laid on a goal for Gonzalo Higuain against the South Koreans after coming on as a substitute, would again fill in at the back.
Samuel's absence is a blow for the Argentines who have looked formidable going forward but at times shaky in defense.
