Cronk, Finch fined for public urination
Melbourne's Cooper Cronk and Brett Finch are the latest rugby league players to be fined for bad behaviour.
Storm officials announced on Friday night they had fined both $5,000 for urinating in public in Byron Bay on Thursday night.
The players contacted the club after they had been cautioned on the spot by NSW Police while on a break at the resort town on the NSW north coast.
While neither player was found to be intoxicated at the time of the incident, Storm CEO Brian Waldron said he was deeply disappointed with the actions of both.
"This type of behaviour is unacceptable," Waldron said in a statement released by the club.
"As such we have decided to send the strongest message possible to our players by imposing the substantial fines.
"We have notified the NRL of this incident and they are supportive of the disciplinary action imposed."
The Storm have a bye this NRL round and players are not required back in Melbourne until Sunday afternoon.
Brisbane Broncos players Steve Michaels and Nick Kenny received an undisclosed punishment from the club for a similar incident in Byron Bay last month.
They, too, were cautioned by police.
Last weekend, Sydney Roosters star Willie Mason was photographed urinating outside a Sydney hotel and the club fined him $2000.
