Kahui set to be fit for Super 14 final
The Chiefs have received a boost ahead of Sunday morning's Super 14 final in Pretoria with international centre Richard Kahui expected to be named.
Kahui missed the Chiefs last two matches with a bruised calf muscle, including last week's semi-final victory over the Hurricanes in Hamilton.
But the eight Test centre ran freely at training on Tuesday and is widely tipped to be named by coach Ian Foster in his match 22 on Thursday afternoon.
"I had been quite nervous because it was my first real full training. I got through it really good," Kahui said.
"So things are going pretty well at the moment, and fingers crossed I am named in the side."
Outside of his brief test career, Sunday's match represents a Super 14 highlight for Kahui and the Chiefs as a franchise because neither he nor they have tasted a Super final.
They will have their work cut out against a brutish Bulls team, who enjoy nothing more than belting opponents into submission, particularly at Loftus Versfeld where the crowd is never shy of voicing their disdain for strangers.
Kahui suggested nothing the crowd will do or say will surprise the Chiefs.
"We'll be playing in front of a hostile crowd of about 55,000 people. I got a text the other day telling me it would be hard for us to win, because we've got the altitude, the travel, the sleep patterns and things like that.
"But as a team we are all really confident and I think the adversity has brought us together.
"We know we are good enough to beat this side if we play as well as we can.
"If they get a roll on they are a bloody tough team to stop, but there is a good confidence, and a quiet confidence, throughout our team."
