Jones to captain Wales in Canada, US
Ryan Jones will captain Wales on the two-Test tour to Canada and the United States following his omission from the British and Irish Lions' tour to South Africa.
Jones was left out when coach Ian McGeechan picked his Lions squad last month but the backrower is rumoured to be on standby.
His inclusion in Wales' 32-man touring party, announced on Monday by the Welsh Rugby Union, should mean he is in top condition should McGeechan call upon him.
England flanker Tom Croft is the leading contender ahead of Jones to make the squad should Ireland's Alan Quinlan be ruled out after of a disciplinary hearing.
Wales selected 11 rookie players for the matches against Canada on May 30 and the United States on June 9.
"We have approached the task of selecting the right blend of youth and experience with great pride," said Robin McBryde, who is standing in as coach while Warren Gatland acts as forwards coach with the Lions.
"We are playing two tests where the opposition will be gunning for us in their own back yard."
Wales squad: Dan Biggar, Andrew Bishop, Luke Charteris, Gareth Cooper, Chris Czekaj, Bradley Davies, Jonathan Davies, Lewis Evans, Ian Gough, Richard Hibbard, James Hook, Tom James, Dafydd Jones, Deiniol Jones, Duncan Jones, Mark Jones, Ryan Jones, Eifion Lewis-Roberts, Dan Lydiate, Rob McCusker, Craig Mitchell, Richard Mustoe, Gareth Owen, Dwayne Peel, Nicky Robinson, Robin Sowden-Taylor, Jonathan Spratt, Jason Tovey, Josh Turnbull, Sam Warburton, Gareth Williams, John Yapp.
