Sharpe no certainty for Wallabies
Wallabies lock Nathan Sharpe has admitted he's no certainty for selection for Saturday's Tri-Nations Test against South Africa despite declaring himself injury-free and raring to go.
Sharpe trained strongly in Perth and said he felt no ill effects from the groin injury that kept him out of Australia's recent 40-10 win over France in Brisbane.
But with Dan Vickerman making a successful return to club rugby on the weekend and fellow lock James Horwill in good form, Sharpe admitted his place in the starting pack at Subiaco Oval was not guaranteed.
"There's no guarantees in this game, (coach Robbie Deans) will make a decision," Sharpe said. "Hopefully I get an opportunity.
"I had no problems at all today, it was very good."
Assistant coach Jim Williams said a decision on whether to bring back Vickerman, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury, would be left until later in the week.
"It was his first game in five or six weeks (playing club rugby on the weekend) so he's a little bit tired at the moment, just working through things," Williams said.
"We'll wait and see how he finishes up the session this afternoon with weights and make another call on that later on."
Williams said inside centre Berrick Barnes had recovered from a shoulder injury but the 22-year-old will be put to the test with a series of contact drills on Tuesday.
Winger Lote Tuqiri and No.8 Wycliff Palu are also both set to return from injuries that forced them to miss the Wallabies last Test.
