Wicketkeeper Jones happy with jokes
Under-siege English wicketkeeper Geraint Jones isn't fazed by the abuse he's copped from the ruthless Fleet Street press - he's wearing it as a badge of honour.
Queensland-raised Jones has taken delight in texting jokes about his much-maligned glovework back to his sister on the Sunshine Coast.
"What do Michael Jackson and Geraint Jones have in common?, the latest joke goes.
"They both wear gloves for no reason."
"He said he feels rather honoured to have jokes made about him. It's quite funny really," sister Mari Vines told AAP.
"For us it's hard to hear - he's not the worst-ever English wicketkeeper, he's my brother."
Jones proved some of the critics wrong when he took a high-pressure leg-side catch off Michael Kasprowicz's glove to ensure a remarkable series-levelling Ashes win at Edgbaston on Sunday.
It led to leaping screams of joy from his older sister and younger Brisbane-based brother David, 24, in their lounge rooms.
"I was jumping around, it was unbelievable," said David, who has taken holidays from work to stay up late to watch the third Test.
"You feel everything for him. If he dropped that catch it would have been the end for him.
