Eels extends winning streak
Parramatta extended its NRL winning streak to six games with a 28-18 win over the New Zealand Warriors at Waikato Stadium.
The Eels had taken their home game to a foggy Hamilton in New Zealand and in the process extended the Warriors' woeful record outside Auckland in their own country, to nine games without a win.
The five-tries-to-four win helped the Eels retain second place on the competition table, while the Warriors risk slipping further from 10th after the completion of round 15.
The Warriors began the game like a team in a hurry, shocking the high-flying Eels with two quick tries to shoot out to a 10-0 lead in just 10 minutes.
But from the moment NSW Origin second rower Nathan Hindmarsh entered the game, the Eels took control.
By halftime, Parramatta had run in four tries, including one to Hindmarsh, and had the game well in hand at 22-14.
Both teams had plenty of chances in the second half but aside from a Matt Petersen try after a dozen players handled in a two-minute movement Parramatta were unable to add to their score.
Todd Byrne scored with 10 minutes remaining to give the Warriors faint hope of an upset but the Eels were able to withstand their late flurry and run out 10-point victors.
