Rabbitohs set to cash in thanks to Crowe
South Sydney is poised to cash in on its high-profile relationship with Russell Crowe by announcing a unique sponsorship deal with the Oscar winner.
It's understood Crowe will promote his film The Cinderella Man - to be released later this year - on the Rabbitohs jersey alongside the NRL club's existing sponsor Real Insurance.
Rabbitohs officials on Wednesday night declined to reveal the exact nature of the unique sponsorship arrangement.
However, they will announce the details at a press conference on Thursday to be attended by Crowe.
"Russell has always been involved with us," chief executive Shane Richardson said on Wednesday.
"We're always excited when we can get people involved with South Sydney football club."
It's understood the sponsorship will be placed on the Souths jersey closer to the movie's release date.
The deal is another coup for Richardson ahead of the club's premiership opener against the Sydney Roosters at Aussie Stadium on Saturday night.
It will also heighten optimism at Redfern after a promising pre-season under new coach Shaun McRae.
Crowe, a life member of the club, has been in regular contact with Richardson to discuss ways to enhance his relationship with the club.
